West Gallery Band

West Gallery Bands are a traditional way of providing music to accompany church services, dating from the years between 1700 and 1850.  Recently there has been a renewed interest in this tradition, and Claverdon’s West Gallery Band was formed in 2021 to accompany services in Claverdon, and other local churches; they also play for some community events.  Players of any melody instrument and of any standard are welcome to join the band, but basic ability to read music is a necessity.  The band meets to rehearse about once a month, usually in the Church Centre.
