A brief history
The Common is held in trust by Claverdon Paris Council for the ‘benefit of the inhabitants of Claverdon.’.
Claverdon Parish Council recently commissioned a Biodiversity Offset Management Plan for the Common from Warwickshire County Council. Yarningale Common is one of the very few unenclosed Commons left in the county and is designated as a Local Wildlife Site.
Who we are – What are we doing?
FoYC is a community based group of volunteers, working in partnership with Claverdon Parish Council to implement the recommendations in the Biodiversity Offset Management Plan and other works to improve and make safe the Common, including:
- clear overgrown, muddy and treacherous footpaths, open up new footpaths

replace broken, rotten and dangerous styles and fences

remove dangerous tree branches, all to enable safer access for visitors

recycle cut material into dead hedges or hibernacula to provide shelter and refuge for a variety of animals

thin out and remove younger trees, and non-native; Holly, Cherry and Laurel

remove areas of scrub, nettles and brambles
-
plant native species and wildflower meadows
-
to encourage sustainability and biodiversity

all done considering legislation, nesting birds, great crested newts and bat roosts
